Voting Question: Keep blowing ballast resistors?
I have a 76 Dodge Aspen with a 318. I just had to replace the ballast resistor. I left it parked for a week after I replaced it, went back to try and start it and no spark. The ballast resistor went again. What would cause it to blow so quick? its the top measurment that is open (OL), the bottom resistance measurment is fine. Thanks!

Voting Question: bedding for my snake?
websites say corn cob is not good for your snake but it also says if ingested. im pretty sure they mean if it eats it. well i dont feed my snake in the cage and im sleepy of looking at newspaper. and i have a huge bag or corn cob in my closet for rats. if i dont feed it in the tank then would corn cob be ok to use? plus one of my friends said its ok but also doesnt take care of his snake except for feeding it and handling it and thats it. took it to the vet once.he uses corn cob because its so cheap and he feeds the snake in the tank. hes had his for i think 4 years. he took it to the vets last year and it didn't have digestive problems or respiration problems. first hes taken it since he got it. someone that used to live with us when i was young had a python and had it in corn cob bedding and my mom said it never ate in the cage and was fine in the bedding. they lived here with it for 8 years. then they moved and idk what they did with the snake. but my moms no expert/knows much about snakes. i never like to go on something one or 2 peoplen say so i want to here it from a few people. would it be fine in corn cob bedding since i never feed it in its cage? i can receive like a 80 pound bag of it for 15 dollars from the pet store. plus i use it for other things too so its deffinatly not a problem for me, but would it be for the snake. and its cheaper then 9 dollars every week for bark or aspen bedding. it never opens its mouth in the tank either. atleast i never look it.

Resolved Question: How to keep the proper humidity for a corn snake?
Ok so I wasn't going to receive a cornsnake yet.... but after a recent trip to Petco, even though I usually dont purchase animals from chain stores, I couldnt resist buying a baby corn that I fell in adore with at first sight! Yeah, so anyways, he is the sweetest little thing, but Im having trouble keeping the proper humidity. I need tips or suggestions to keep things stable. He is currently in a 10g aquarium with a screen top(weighted down to keep it secure so little guy doesnt escape). I am using aspen bedding as a substrate. I have a hide on the chilly side and the warm side, a heat pad below the warm side that was rated for a 10-20g terrarium and covers a little less than half the tanks bottom. My home is nice of chilly, so I also have a heat lamp that I use in the daytime with a 50w red bulb to help keep the temp close 80 in the daytime hours. I turn it off at night and the temp goes down to around 72. He also has a branch with some fake leaves on it to climb on. oh, and a tiny water dish, probably 3" around, and 2 inches deep which is on the chilly side of the tank. Im having a humidity problem. Right now the humidity is at 29%. For the past few days I have misted the tank a few times a day which would receive the level closer to 45%, but it doesnt last lmore than 30 minutes before it starts to drop again.. What can I do to keep the humidity at a stable level? I cover the top of the cage on the opposite side of the light to try and hold in the humidity, but it doesnt help much. I bought a digital humidity, temperature guage from walmart. could this be the majority of my problem? Maybe its not accurate? Any help would be great. Serious answers only please, Im trying to provide the best possible habitat for my snake. Thank you galliano! I was freaked about tank temp instead of concentrating on temp at the bottom where the snake spends most of his time anyway....I will ditch the lamp for now. Humidity was fine before I added it, so Im sure it is the culprit. Thanks again!

Resolved Question: Is this enclosure good for my milk snake?
Okay, my dad bought me a Pueblan Milk Snake for my birthday. It is very tiny, only 8 inches or so. I have it in a 10 gallon terrarium with a "Pet Select Screen Cover" (From Walmart), two x-tiny plastic blossom pots for hiding, a water dish and silk plants. She has a red bulb for heating with a thermometer and is on aspen. How long will the 10 gallon tank last her if I feed her weekly and is my set up okay? She is so tiny... Sheriff Dave Dark stared down at the body of Frank Cullen, being careful of where he stepped. He didn’t want to mess up the crime scene. He also didn’t want to receive any more mud from the creek bank on his brand new boots. That Cullen had been shot in the head was obvious. Who had done it was not. He took a few steps inside and stopped, looking sheepishly at the muddy tracks he’d left on the clean wood floor. He also noticed he was alone in the cabin. “Spencer?” he shouted. “Sorry, sir,” his deputy said. He was out of breath from running up to the doorway. “I thought we’d every wait out here for you.” Dark followed Spencer to a picnic table sitting beneath a tiny stand of aspen. He stood at one end and studied the three men – Walsh and Pelgoni on one bench, Melendez on the other. “every right. let’s hear about everyone’s whereabouts at the time of the murder. You first, Mr Walsh.”Greg Walsh fingered his red goatee. “I don’t know where I was when Frank was shot.” “I thought you said you heard the shot,” Spencer said from behind Dark’s shoulder. “I heard a shot. Don’t know if it was the shot. It’s hunting season, so you do hear the occasional shot.” Dark scowled. “Where were you when you heard this one?” “Upstream.” Walsh pointed. “Around the bend. I thought a hunter may have gotten too close to our camp. I didn’t look nothing until I got closer. When I saw Frank … I started up to the cabin, spotted Carlos getting out of his truck, and yelled for him to call 911. Then I ran back – to, uh, stay by Frank.” The sheriff cocked an eye at Carlos Melendez. “Where had you been?” “In town – getting grub and beer. I ran into the cabin to make the call and found Sam already taking care of it.” “I guess I was the first one on the scene,” Pelgoni explained. “I was fishing down the other way when I heard what sounded like a gunshot. I turned and saw Frank falling. I hurried over to his side, saw the wound, and –“ He ran a hand through his grey-streaked hair. “I figured I’d better call for help quick.” “Any of you got any idea who’d want to kill Cullen?” “Nope,” Pelgoni said. “Can’t understand it. He was a great guy.” “Sure was,” Walsh agreed. “It’s gotta be some sort of freak accident. Someone was out hunting and shot Frank by mistake. “Hmm.” Dark chewed at the corner of his moustache. “How about you, Mr Melendez? What do you think?” Melendez flushed, glanced at the other two fishermen, then looked away. “I think its tied in with that bank robbery in Pinedale the other day.” “Bank robbery –“ Pelgoni began. Dark held up a hand. “silent!” He swung back on the dark-haired man. “Go on.” "Well, early this morning – around sunrise, I guess – I got up to use the can and saw Frank pacing around outside like a crazy man. I went out and asked him what was wrong, and he – he started blubbering like a baby. Said he’d done a terrible thing. That he and another guy had knocked off the bank yesterday afternoon before we every met here, and that a customer in the bank had got hurt.” “Did he say who his partner was? Deputy Spencer asked. “No. But I think I had him convinced he should go to the cops.” Sheriff Dark stared at Melendez long and difficult, then at the other two men. “You fellows every arrived separately yesterday?” “Yeah’” Pelgoni said. “And I had nothing to do with any bank stick-up.” “Me either,” Walsh said. He glared at Melendez. “You sure you didn’t dream this up in the morning sun?” Melendez stuck out his jaw. “I’m telling the truth. And Frank’s getting shot proves it. Someone didn’t want him to talk.” Everyone looked at Sheriff Dark who shrugged. “I don’t know what the motive was, Mr Melendez. But I know the killer. There’s one clue that gives him away.”

Voting Question: What kind of guinea pig bedding doesn't have an odor?
I don't really like using newspaper or bedding like Carefresh, aspen, etc; I like the sound of fleece and towels. My mom really doesn't want an odor and she doesn't want to have to wash the bedding every week. I've heard of mattress pads and puppy pads. Do you have to put the mattress pads in the wash? Are the puppy pads reusable? I don't think I'd mind hand-washing the fleece/towels, but how long does that take and how often do I have to wash? I only have one male guinea pig so it's not much. Please help me?

Details... Her name is Kitsune, or Kit for short. I could give you my long history with pet rats but I won't. Well, maybe a little detail. I've owned pet rats since I was in my early teens. I'm now 28! I'm in my last semester of college and I have things I need to focus on. Now on to the deal... Kit will be given to a good owner free of charge as long as they can meet me in Henrietta, NY. I will provide a glass tank, a new water bottle, and a plastic igloo thing. I will also provide some aspen shavings and lab blocks (food). I will also provide at least ten dollars to the person who is willing to take her! BUT.... there is a reason for this madness. I used to be good at this whole thing. I guess I'm not anymore. Kitsune has lice! They are treatable, but there is risk involved and I am getting cheap. Resolved Question: cypress mulch for a snakes cage?
I was browsing some ball python sites and saw where one said to use newspaper or aspen shavings or pine or cypress mulch for substrate. I have heard of using aspen and know to stay far away from cedar but have not heard of using cypress or pine mulch. Pine seems weird because usually pine needles are a deterrent to snakes. I have a ball python and 3 other kinds of snakes and 3 lizards. It is the use of cypress mulch that I am most interested in knowing about.

Open Question: How do I tell if my rat has the early symptoms of Bumblefoot?
My 4 month old rat bella has what looks like several little blisters on both her front and back feet. I don't know if she has the condition of Bumblefoot but I know that early detection is best. The bottom of her cage is metal and she has one wire shelf, she hasn't had any traumas that I know of and her cage is cleaned once to twice a week with aspen bedding. I will leave a link to a picture of the bottom of her foot but I don't know if it is clear enough for you to look because she wouldnt stand still. Voting Question: West Aspen Merch Shirts Made With American Apparel?
i went west aspen merch shirt store and they said there shirts are american apparel. the size chart has 5 main sizes: XS, S, M, L, (for girls) and S, M , L ,XL (for guys) the actual band merch page on the site says tiny Girls, Med Girls, tiny, Medium, big, and Extra big <------(sometimes an extra big is available to some shirts) so i was like confused cause how they labled sizes and how they (sometimes) have 6 sizes instead of 5. On girls i'm a big and i bought a big but wouldnt that have mean that i actually bought an extra extra big or something? someone help plz? help oh and plz dont answer with a Ask the Site question or anything similar to that. i already did and thay said they had no further knowledge of shirt sizes. i'm about 6f oot 1 and i can fit in a medium for boys if i tie the back so can i fit in a big for boys?

Voting Question: How to Hide Wood Seams in Bare Wood Furniture When Painting?
I purchased a piece of bare wood furniture (Aspen) for my child's room which I wanted to paint using a Nemo (the movie) color scheme. I first cleaned and light sanded the drawer faces, then I primed them using water based Behr Undercoat & Sealer. I light sanded after the primer dried and proceeded to apply the finish coats using Behr water based semi-gloss enamel. I applied a couple of coats using a foam roller in order to achieve a relatively smooth finish without brush marks. I light sanded between top coats, and the overall finish is fairly smooth, however I can look where the pieces of wood were glued together to form the drawer face. Why are these visible? Did the paint soak into these areas or did I not sand the wood enough? I am not sure what I did wrong, and what I need to do to correct this flaw. I was disappointed in the outcome and put this project aside, but I need to resume work on the project and receive this completed. At this point I need to know how I could have avoided this issue, and then what I need to do to correct it. Do I need to strip or sand the drawer faces back to bare wood, or can I prime over the top coat and start over? I know some experts recommend oil-based paints, but due to the fact that I have already purchased these Disney colored paints I would like to use them if at every possible. I painted another similar Aspen chest of drawers for my other child and I did not seem to have this problem, at least it was not as obvious. I chose the semi-gloss for durability, since this will be used in a child's room. To add protection to the top, I used a spray on Helmsman Spar Urethane. It seems to be holding up well so far. Are there better options which are easy to use for a novice, do not produce the dreaded brush marks, and will add a protective layer to the top of this chest? Also, what about orange-peel effect in the paint? I can look this in my current project, but not sure what causes it. Am I applying the paint too thick? I have a random orbital polisher/sander and foam pads, and I have been told I can use automotive polishes and compounds to refine/smooth the final top coat. Will this tool be useful to remove the orange-peel or do I need to modify my painting techniques? I took photos of the drawer faces to post with my question, but due to the semi-gloss paint I do not think the seams are visible in the photos. But they are easily visible with the naked eye. What grits of sandpaper should I be using? I have 220#, 400#, and 600# wet/dry papers available which I use with a sanding block. Sorry for the length of this post, but I wanted to provide as many details as possible. Thanks in advance for any help I receive.

ok. I want a gerbil, mouse, rat or a hamster. Here's the catch- i've got a 1 foot by 1 foot round cage with a wheel, aspen shavings a hide and food and water dishes. with every that there isn't much room in the cage. i have about 20 dollars to spend on the animal, it's food and something to gnaw on. I've made some homemade toys but what i'm asking is, with every of this what is the best tiny animal for me???? it's actually about 3 feet by 3 feet

Resolved Question: Has anyone had a bad experience with Aspen Dental?
I got new dental insurance and went to Aspen because they took my insurance. The dentist told me that I needed a root canal, two crowns, and a total of 9 fillings. He was going to replace some of my old fillings. The "finance manager" quoted me $945 out of pocket after insurance and that was just for the root canal and the crown. They told me that my insurance benefit was $2500 when in fact it is only $1200/year. When I asked about a cleaning, I was told that I should wait until the following year so that my insurance benefit would be renewed and thus pay for it. My insurance allows two cleanings per year. I sought a second opinion and had the root canal done that day. How much did it cost me? $5.00 copay and thats it. This dentist told me that a crown would never hold on this tooth and said it would be a waste of money. I went bac for a cleaning the following week ...they did a deep cleaning for $5.00. I am going back on Friday for another cleaning for $5.00. This dentist looked at my x-rays from Aspen and they were so light that he couldn't even read them. Feeling bad for me because insurance only pays for one set of x-rays per year, he did another set for free. He found one cavity only and said that as long as my other fillings aren't bothering me, he wouldn't want to replace them because the old style silver fillings are actually stronger than the new cosmetic white ones. Okay, so my question is ...has anybody else had any experiences like this at Aspen Dental? My Dentist is WNY Dental Associates, they are a chain of local dentists. I have nothing but good things to say about them ...very professional

Wet Tail is what she has, and she doesn't appear to drink as much as we'd like. I gave her some water with an eye dropper, and her paw started to shake rapidly like she was having a seizure! It stopped, but happened again 10 seconds later. She has stopped now. I am thinking that I gave her too much in one gulp, and the water was a bit icy. Also, does the brand Oasis work well? We are using it and seeing good improvements in her diarrhea (light green to dark, but still a bit of mucus). Also, she has scabs on her back close her head and shoulders, but the fur is growing back and the scabs are healing. We switched her bedding to aspen pellets and soft paper. Will she be okay? There is NO vet around, are there any good household solutions to help her? Please help, she's only a year and a half.

I striaghen my hair every day and in the summer its really soft and meduim thickness, but then in the winterit receive crackly and its like wtf? i live in colorado in aspen so :/ but yeah anyideas pantene dosent work>.< It dries out my hair worse:)

Resolved Question: Christmas gift ideas for my parents?

I am trying to arrive up with ideas for gifts for my parents for Christmas. I would like to receive them a combined gift up to $50. They live in Colorado and adore nature (mountains, snow, Aspen Trees, etc). They're both in their 50s, been married for about 34 years.

Resolved Question: Aspen Lift Tickets!!?
This will my 1st time visiting Aspen and 1st time ever that I will TRY to skii and snowboard. Of course I know that the lift tickets includes the obvious (lift!!! lol), but I know of some states where the lift tickets include equipment rental. Is that the case with Aspen's lift tickets?

Resolved Question: Hotot Dwarf Rabbit? ?
I'm just about ready to purchase a hotot dwarf rabbit from a local place. I held it today got a good look at its marking, made sure it was eating, checked its teeth, front paws and back. It's still a very young baby but i just wanted to receive a good look at it for myself. Anyways when i was looking at its nose I noticed that right below the nose was a yellowish coloring. It looks like it could have a runny nose or some nasal discharge. In my opinion I dont think he looks sick, his nostrils do not looked clogged and he does not sound like as if he has weezing. Does anyone know is that since he is very young, that maybe he just has a discharge because of his age? I have not bought him yet because of this reason, if he is sick it would be more of a hastle. My last animal is had showed no signs of sickness and passed about a week later. Maybe he could have allergies or somthing like from the bedding he is in. He's in aspen shavings for now but if i buy him he will be in carefresh (no dust and such). Any information would be much apprechiated. I just want a few peoples opinions of what they think it may be before I go off and spend a ton of money on a rabbit that may have problems. I really wish I dont have to pass him up, he is absolutly precious and from what I heard they are very much like ferrets with their disposition and the way they need attention and adore to play.
